What is Women Build?
Women Build is a Pensacola Habitat initiative that recruits and empowers women from all walks of life to come together and make a tangible impact on our community! From July through the end of September, Pensacola Habitat Women Builders work together to raise funds and build a home for a woman in Pensacola Habitat's Home Buyer Program. In doing so, our Women Builders learn new construction skills, strengthen relationships with each other, and even get to work alongside the Pensacola Habitat Home Buyer who will be living in the home they are helping to build! Women Build is a unique event that shows our community how much can be accomplished when local women join forces to address the need for affordable housing!
150+ women (teams and individuals) join together to:
- Raise funds to build a home
- Physically construct a home
- Build awareness throughout the community about the importance of affordable, secure, decent homes
- Bring new women and groups into the mission for affordable housing
- Have fun!
How does it work?
- Teams and individuals will raise a total of $150,000
- Each team schedules one full day to work on the build site
- Individual fundraising requirement to build: $500 per person or $5,000 per team - whichever is greater.
2023 Women Build Timeline
- Friday, June 16th @ 8-9:30am: Kick-Off Breakfast - Pensacola Country Club
- Saturday, August 26th @ 8am-2pm: Multi-Team Yard Sale
- Wednesday, September 13th @ 11:59PM: Fundraising Deadline
- Thursday, September 14th: Women Build Celebration - location TBD
- Tuesday, September 19th: Groundbreaking and First Build Day!
- Tuesday, September 19th - Saturday, September 23rd: Build Week #1
- Tuesday, September 26th - Saturday, September 30th: Build Week #2
- Fall/Winter of 2024: Landscaping on the home once completed
